Dental Implants

How dental implants work

Dentures
Look good and feel great
Having dentures fitted is generally a quicker procedure than implants. Being custom-made, your dentist will first take an impression of your mouth to ensure your dentures fit snugly over your gums. Depending on how many teeth you’re missing, you’ll need full / complete dentures or a partial denture. Either way, your dentist will discuss the options with you in order for you to make an informed decision.
Complete Dentures
A full set which replace all of your upper or lower teeth.
If all your upper or lower teeth need to be replaced, full dentures will be fitted snugly over your gums and jawbone. The denture will usually be fitted as soon as your teeth are removed, which means you won’t be without teeth. When dentures fit properly, you shouldn’t necessarily need to use denture fixative (adhesive). Where a jawbone has shrunk significantly, adhesive may be the only way to help retain your dentures. If this is the case, your dentist will advise and discuss with you.
Partial Dentures
Which replace just 1 tooth or a few missing teeth.
Partial dentures are designed to fill in the gaps left by one or more missing teeth. Formed from either plastic, nylon or a metal plate – a number of false teeth can be attached. To hold them securely in place in your mouth, partial dentures usually clip onto some of your natural teeth via metal clasps, which can then be easily be unclipped and removed as needed.
